MISSION
The Dormont Fire Department is committed to providing the highest quality of public safety for our community, responding to all fires, hazardous materials incidents, and rescues to save lives, property, and the environment. We will accomplish this mission by promoting safety and maintaining a well-equipped, highly trained, and motivated force of professional firefighters and rescue personnel while promoting fire prevention and public safety education programs.

The Dormont Fire Department, for 100 years, has provided fire protection for the residents of the Borough. These highly trained individuals have donated countless hours to fire suppression and public service details.
These very dedicated persons put their lives on the line dozens of times a year in order to keep our community safe.
The firefighters all receive training through the Allegheny County Fire Academy and additional training as determined by the Fire Chief.
The Fire Department also presents fire prevention and safety programs, sponsors Public Safety Day in conjunction with October Fire Prevention Week, and undertakes numerous community, charitable, and civic events.
These men and women who make up the Borough of Dormont Fire Department dedicate countless hours to protect and serve the residents of our community. These individuals are your friends, neighbors, and professionals.
Dormont Fire Department is recognized as one of only 43 departments in PA having met the 100% certification standards set forth by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. All active non-probationary firefighters in Dormont are Pro-Board certified at the level of Fire Fighter 1 or higher.
Dormont Fire Department has an ISO Class 2 rating (out of 10, with 1 being the highest), by the Insurance Services Office. This rating determines how well the fire department can protect your community and home. Insurance companies use this rating to help set home insurance rates, as a home that is less likely to become severely damaged or destroyed by fire is cheaper to insure.
Dormont Fire Department is a licensed EMS Agency with the PA Department of Health. The department is dispatched to assist Medical Rescue Team South Authority on all Priority 0 (highest priority) EMS calls as well as any EMS call where MRTSA is either on a delay or responding to multiple calls.
